Cornelius Vanderbilt Wood, The Man Who Was Erased From Disney History

mardi 2 juin 2015

There’s a reason Walt Disney is virtually the only name you hear associated with the Disney company- he and his corporation went out of their way to erase certain key players so Walt got all the glory.

It happened to Ub Iwerks, the true creator of Mickey Mouse, and it apparently happened to the man in the middle of this photo as well.

His name is Cornelius Vanderbilt Wood, and he was seen as such an integral part of the Disney empire that Walt referred to him as “son”.

Cornelius was Disneyland’s first employee, he served as the park’s Vice President and General Manager, and yet six months after the opening of the park Wood was gone and quickly erased from the Disney history books.

So what happened to poor Cornelius? Read Cornelius Vanderbilt Wood: The Man Who Was Erased From Disney History at mental_floss and find out!
