Jaekelopterus rhenaniae is something straight out of a 1950s B movie. This eight-foot-long sea scorpion was a species of the now extinct group of arthropods called Eurypterida, which inhabited the seas approximately 390 million years ago. The fossil shown below was found near Prüm, Germany.
I don't know about you all, but I wasn't comfortable during a close encounter with a scorpion that was itty bitty in comparison. An eight plus footer is a big bowl of wrong, in my book.
