Fashion is a head-to-toe affair, and those who think of themselves as fashion forward know an outfit isn't complete until you slip on an amazing pair of shoes.

Grunge is coming back in a big way, so if you want to be fashionable and make a big impression you need a sturdy pair of clompers that will leave your mark on the world.

These might be the cheapest pair of pumps ever made, and the best part is you can fold up a new pair whenever you want.

Just because you have Disco Fever doesn't mean you have to succumb to the forces of casual wear, simply add wheels to your favorite gold pumps you've got an excuse to boogie the night away.

Confusion follows the wearer of these stunning knee high boots, because nobody can tell if you're coming or going.

Here's a crazy concept in funky footwear that never made it past the concept stage, for obvious reasons- the CD Boombox High Top Sneaker, the stylin' way to skip-skip-skip around town!

(Image Link)

Here's a crazy pair of creepers that'll put a spring in your step, and since they're made of astroturf instead of real grass they're environmentally friendly.

(Image Link)

Tired of everyone thinking you're a big meanie because your streetwear ensemble sends the wrong message? Slip on a pair of Jeremy Scott Adidas and show the streets your cuddly side.

(Image Link)

They also come in a gorilla version, in case you want something less cuddly...aww, who am I kidding? The gorilla's just as cute and cuddly as the panda!

(Image Link)

These ocular nightmare platforms are perfect for keeping people at bay while you're out on the town, and if your feet get tired you can just leave them wherever you like- because nobody will have the nerve to steal them!

(Image Link)

People who think their feet are too good looking to share with the world, or those who have really busted feet, can now slap these uglifying slip-ons over their tootsies and put their worst foot forward

(Image Link)

Someone even made a casual sandal version of the uglifying foot covers, in case you're going somewhere that requires the illusion of shoes.

(Image Link)

Tired of having to lug your fancy shoes to that dirty old gym every night? Looking to spar one minute then strut in style the next? Slap these boxing glove booties on your bottom fists and knock 'em dead at the neighborhood danceteria!

(Image Link)

That springy white foam used to protect items during shipping looks like it would make for some mighty comfortable shoes. Now that's how you recycle in style!

(Image Link)

And lastly we have the perfect example of how fashionistas recycle aluminum foil- they turn it into a new pair of shoes!

Make sure the only thing funky about your feet are the shoes you're wearing!

6 Fun Facts You Might Not Know about Independence Day

A sequel to the thrilling 1996 alien invasion movie Independence Day is in the works. It will be awesome even if (or especially if) it consists of nothing but Will Smith punching an alien in the face for 2 straight hours.

In anticipation of the release of the sequel next year, Uproxx compiled 6 fascinating bits of information about the first movie. Among them is the reasoning behind President Whitmore's inspiring speech before he personally led the allied assault against the alien vessels. The producers wanted the movie studio to purchase the title "Independence Day" from its owners:

When Bill Pullman’s President Whitmore gave his rousing pre-battle speech near the end of the movie, he wasn’t just rallying the troops against the alien invaders. He was also rallying them against 20th Century Fox’s marketing department.

Devlin and Emmerich were dead set on calling the movie Independence Day from the beginning, but Fox wasn’t having it. This is why the movie was called “ID4″ in so much of the promotional material leading up to release. Well, that and Fox didn’t want to have to buy the rights to the title from Warner Bros., who owned them at the time (they had released a movie with the same title back in 1983). According to the movie’s DVD commentary, the filmmakers added the line to the speech in hopes it would encourage the studio to buy the rights.

The SkinBook: A Sketchbook of Synthetic Skin for Tattoo Artists to Practice on

samedi 30 mai 2015

How do you become a great artist? Or even just a good one? With practice. Lots and lots of practice.

That's a problem for tattoo artists. Not many people want to be an inker's sketchbook. That's why Tattoo Art Magazine invented the SkinBook. It's a book filled with sheets of a synthetic product that behaves like human skin. The pages are photographs of human body parts that are commonly tattooed. This permits artists to get a sense of what a design will look like when applied to an actual human body.

Thirty Interesting Product/Industrial Designs

Chair

Particularly now that the public strongly favors a minimalist, sleek and modern design aesthetic, designers and manufacturers are fully invested in blending the best of function with avant garde form. As always, in the end there are products that aren't practical in terms of function, and are rather ineffective beauties. Such products eventually fall by the wayside in terms of sales; the market soon sorts out such design failures. Consumers love a good marriage of form and function, but they won't tolerate or support an ineffective product for long. On occasion, though, if an item has a look that consumers love, designers can make modifications to bring its usefulness in line with its appearance.

The editors at Design Bump have assembled another group of interesting new products/industrial designs. Have a look at all 30 designs and see if anything catches your eye.

These Coffee Cups Are Made of Coffee Grounds

(Photo: Kaffeeform)

You can now drink coffee from coffee cups--literally! After 5 years of research, Julian Lechner hit upon a formula that works. He combined used coffee grounds from cafes in Berlin with glue and wood to create Kaffeeform Cups--espresso cups that are made of compressed coffee grounds.

The combination forms a liquid that Lechner injects into a mold, then seals with a waterproof resin. Despite this industrial processing, the cups still smell like coffee. They're sturdy enough to withstand a dishwashing machine and have already been tested for durability in a commercial cafe.

Social Media Rhapsody

(YouTube link)

How many different ways have we heard "Bohemian Rhapsody"? All of them? No, you are sadly mistaken. A collaborative online game between Jim Jarmo, Kamran Malik, Woodstock Taylor, and Christophe Gowans grew into this mammoth pun video based on social media accounts. It may take you a little bit of time to get into it, but soon your mouth will hang open at the scope of the project. And I completely lost it when the first guitar solo started. -via b3ta
