Batman has taken a dark and gritty turn over the years, evolving into the Dark Knight we all know (and many of us love) today, but even when he has a bad attitude Bats can be a bit of a goofball.
He often relies on his gadgets too much to truly call himself a superhero, and those gadgets are like the comic book equivalent of pulling a rabbit out of his cowl, in other words way too convenient.
